TOP STUFF IN 2019

So it's the middle of January and that means I need to post my top books and stuff for 2019!

I actually tried to post this already, the stuff other than books, but stupid Tumblr refused to post it, so I'm back on here!

If you're wondering why I said I'd post more and then didn't, my computer died. It doesn't work at all. I mean it turns on, but can I run a program of any kind? No. Can I save stuff or open the internet? No. It's a very nice looking brick with a monitor that gets fuzzy whenever it feels like it. It's pretty damn annoying.

So I'm using a different computer not at my house to type this up and then post it.

*Ahem* Back to the task at hand.

So top thingies I was into last year! Except for books, because that will be it's own post, and music which you can follow me on Spotify to see what I'm obsessed with. I also will be posting a playlist with my top songs. Check out that list HERE.

SHOWS

4. Teen Wolf

This show sucked me in over the summer. It follows Scott and Stiles after Scott is bitten by something and then turns into a Werewolf. I haven't finished the series but I got my sister into it as well and we LOVE these kids. I'm sad that it only has 6 seasons, but at least a bunch of them are splint into two parts, meaning twice as long as the other seasons.

3. Witcher

I've heard about the Witcher video games, seen fan videos and heard fan songs, and heard the books are really well done. So when I heard there was going to be a TV show done by Netflix, I was all over it.

And it's SO GOOD!!! I love this show! I've seen the whole thing twice, numerous funny moments on YouTube, bought two of the novels (started both), and want merch. This show is so good! And after the nightmare of the ending of Game of Thrones I know won't suffer the same fate since unlike George RR Martin, Andrzej Sapkowski already finished the novels and the games are the only continuation, which ended this past year as well, and was considered a BRILLIANT ending. Thanks to fan videos I've seen the ending, and I love it.

2. Steven Universe

While I was house sitting my best friend stayed with me so I wouldn't be alone for safety reasons, and we watched several shows, but the one we actually finished (including the movie) was Steven Universe. When I first started this show years ago I thought it was silly and odd, and didn't make it past the first few episodes. But this summer with nothing else to do when it rained we started it and fell in love. The music, the dances, the over all story, the characters, the humor, it's all BRILLIANT!!! It tackles heavy subjects in a manner small children can understand and does it in a non-triggering way. It's a lovely show and I watched the whole thing twice, and listened to the music non-stop.

1. Supernatural

Despite how much I adored Steven Universe, the show doesn't define 2019 for me. It's music was super important to me, but the show that had one of my top ten songs of the year, the show that I got not one, not two, but THREE people into, the show that I have rewatched so many times I can't count it all (even though I haven't finished it yet, those later seasons are STRESSFUL) is Supernatural.

I've seen my favorite episodes so many times, I got both of my besties and one of their mothers into the show, I am obsessed with Carry On, Wayward Son the show's theme song, I own some merch, I want the boys car Baby. I'm just obsessed, right in time for the series finale. I don't know what I'll do when it's over, except maybe rewatch it a million times again.

MOVIES

3. Captain MarvelYou know it's a good movie when your mother calls you seconds after she left the theater to tell you watch a movie. And when I didn't do that she ordered me to go rent it RIGHT NOW.

So I did. And she was right. It was amazing.

I loved the few Captain Marvel comics I read, and this movie was even better and did not disappoint! Since my mom is NOT a comic fan and loved this movie, you don't need to have touched a single comic to love this movie. I thought it was the best installment in the MCU, except for maybe Black Panther.

2. Steven Universe: The Movie

I thought hard about not including this, but I can't just skip it. This movie is wonderful. As a movie it's pretty solid, as a cartoon movie it's PHENOMINAL!!! I adore this! I rewatched the whole series because I had to see this movie again. I love the music, the plot, and how it shows that even heroes who changed the world can do truly horrible things that had serious repercussions.

 1. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

The best Marvel movie of all time has nothing to do with the MCU, and isn't live action. It has a brilliant plot that anyone of any age can follow. It's funny as hell, heartbreaking, and has breathtaking visuals.

It was a joy to watch and I've seen it repeatedly. Absolutely the best movie I've seen all year, and ties with Black Panther from last year.

GAMES

3. Journey

Again, over the summer I played 3 games constantly, and one that I have been DYING to play for YEARS since before it came out was Journey, which is exclusively available on the PS 3 +, which I don't own. But my bestie brought hers over specifically so I could play this game and one other.

It did not disappoint. This game is BEAUTIFUL and so wonderful. The music, the imagery, the fact that my first time playing I had a companion. I adore this game and want to play it over and over and over again. Sadly, my one time is all I got before the house sitting ended and I lost access to it.

2. Link's Awakening

When I first compiled this list I was certain this would be the only game I would mention, but I guess because my summer was mostly Supernatural (like most of the year) and Steven Universe, I forgot about the number one game I wish I still had access to.

But I digress.

I have wanted to play this game since it came out originally in the 90s, but was unable to because my brother (rightfully so) distrusted me with his video games since I was like, 6 or 7. But now I'm 30, I own my own Switch, and I preordered this game along with the amiibo.

It's a solid game, with an intriguing, and ultimately heartbreaking, story line, beautiful graphics, and adorable Link running around. I am now attempting to get 100% of the shells and heart pieces.

A can't miss installment for fans of the Zelda game line.

1. Slime Rancher

The number one game my bestie wanted me to play, and another game I've wanted to play for over a year is Slime Rancher.

This fun, quirky, and adorable game is exactly what it sounds like. You run around this game and collect slimes, which are as adorable as they look in that picture, and build a ranch you were gifted. You're a woman of color, in a relationship with another woman, and that just makes the game even better.

When I wasn't watching Steven Universe or one of the other shows I was typically playing this game until the sun rose all summer, and I want all the plushies for this cute game. I need to own it. I want it so bad!!! I don't think it's available on the switch, but now that I'm thinking about it I really need to look into that! If not, I need to get a PS4!!!

That's all the stuff I was into that last year, and the best of it all. I hope you enjoyed this and that I can get another computer this tax season.

My Weekly Pics ~4/26 - 5/3~

Hey guys!

Okay, I don't have many pics, but I have some, I promise!

Here's what my week's been like!

Who screamed like a retarded fan girl when she saw her big brother bought this for himself, and then stole it and hasn't given it back yet? Me! ^^ Hee hee, he hasn't asked for it back yet...

Saturday, my sister Megan took me and her to the fair, and we had a TON of fun!

Since our pics at the fair turned out pretty blurry, I took another of my haircut. I love this dress, too! You may remember it from last fall here: http://lorienlobrien.blogspot.com/2012/08/my-week-in-photos-824-831.html

I have fallen in love with this eyeshadow! You can check out the rest of my monthly favs here: http://lorienlobrien.blogspot.com/2013/04/my-april-favorites-2013.html

January Favorites

Since everyone and their mother has a blog post (usually with a youtube post, but since I don't have a camera, it's on here only) about their favorites of the month, I decided to jump on the bandwagon.

So here's my fav's of the month!

Book

Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan

Okay, this isn't a book. It's a manga series. But I'm in love with it. I've been reading it, but now I'm obsessed with it! It's basically the story of a 12 yr old boy who's 1/4 demon, who is the heir of the King of the Demon Parade. Very well done. I'm already close to 100 chapters in, and started the anime

Movies

Rurouni Kenshin

I haven't seen too many movies this month, but the one I can't help but be in love with is the live action Rurouni Kenshin movie. It successfully combines four or five story arcs into one, and is really well done. Although I couldn't understand it (I could only watch it in Japanese with no subtitles), I can already tell it's well done.

If you think I need to chose one that I could fully appreciate, that one would be...

Red Tails

So well done. The last movie that George Lucas ever did, and it's brilliant. So well done! I loved it!

TV Show

Hikaru no Go
(Japaense version with English subtitles)

As I said earlier, I've been watching Nura, but only the first 2 episodes. I'm further with this show. I can't stand the English version at ALL, but the Japanese voice actors do a MUCH better job. I've been a fan of this for some years, but never saw the anime till now. Stays true to the story and pretty funny. Also, I can actually see what Go really is, and learn a little bit about it while watching. The manga doesn't have that element, so it's not as easy to follow the little nuances that are in the anime.

Makeup Guru

Kandee Johnson

It's like I find a new person or channel to subscribe to every other week! I found Kandee because she's now a part of Ipsy and FAWN. And boy, am I glad I did. She updates more than Ingrid, at least this month, and is even funnier! I just love watching her. I end up giggling almost every time!

Songs

Yes, there's more than one. What can I say? I love music! I'll go alphabetically

Let It Grow by Ester Dean

This is the theme for the movie The Lorax, which I also saw this month. Too sad to be a fav, but I just adore this song!

Queen Bee by Rochelle Diamante

Michelle Phan used this is one of her videos, and boy am I addicted! So fun to dance to!

Gang of Rhythm by Walk Off the Earth

They have the funnest cover of Taylor Swift's I Knew You Were Trouble, but I listen to this song WAY more. It's so catchy, and the video's hilarious!

Food

Anthony's Fish Grotto

I know I mentioned this before, and have more than one photo from my dinner here, but everything tasted good here - even the coleslaw! I don't like coleslaw almost anywhere except for KFC. And this place topped it! Absolutely amazing, and the ship sailing by in the middle of dinner was one of the coolest things dealing with food EVER!

So that's my favorites of the month! What are some of yours? Let me know below!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Happy New Year, ya'll!!!

Or at least, it will be the new year tomorrow. I can't believe it's the last day of 2012. Seems like just yesterday that it was turning 2000! Oh man, I'm old!

So, as I look back at this year, and all the struggles I've overcome, and how I've established myself online, I'm gonna show you some of my favorites of the year!

Books

Of course, I have to start it off with this! My fav is...

Glass!
It really was my fav. I mean, I read it a bazillion times, and enjoyed it (almost) every time! Yes, at the end there, just before it was published, I was going a little Glass-stir-crazy! But I've read it twice since, just because!

And if you're still not satisfied, my other I-didn't-edit-this-and-don't-know-the-author-personally book would have to be

Flame of Sevenwaters by Juliet Marillier. Seriously, I love this author! Every book of hers I've picked up, I've loved. Which isn't all of them, but the Sevenwaters Series was my first girl power books, and I just adore them. They've never disappointed, except for Child of the Prophecy, a little. But you should definately pick this series up!

Movies

Going on from book, and closely related would be movies! Once again, I have two I have to mention, though my first is my first.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
This did not disappoint, not at all! Absolutely loved it! I can understand why the critics gave it a mediocre rating, because no, it's not super-duper epic, but I loved it! Sure, there's way more humor, but this is a kids book! They have to add in all sorts of stuff, and since it's Peter, Fran and Phillipa, and I can't wait for the next one, The Desolation of Smaug!

Right underneath that is The Dark Knight Rises
I think it's bloody brilliant! lol, been watching too much Harry Potter! Anywho, it's a great movie! Totally made me forget common Batman lore, it just drew me in so and had me buying the plot. I just adore this movie, and I can't wait to steal my brother's copy for some late night viewing some time!

TV Shows

Now onto TV Shows. Yes, yet again, I have two. I just couldn't decide!

Arrow is basically the grown-up version of Green Arrow. He's way darker, younger, and hotter! I just love this show! I'm behind right now, but Saturday, me, LA Knight, and IK Scott are gonna catch up on our eyecandy! ;)

Tying with Arrow is Tron: Uprising
This is inbetween the two movies, starring the movie's cast, and with Elijah Wood as Beck, the original main character. Boy, oh boy, this show is not for the lazy viewer, nor the goofy lovers! Premise of the series: Beck and his friends are playing a game, when thousands of soldiers arrive and take over the city. Their first act: destroy the park they were playing in to put up a really stupid statue of Clu. When Body, Beck's best friend, stands up to the guard they derez, or kill him. Beck's determined to take a stand and end the constant removal of rights, executions. Very well done, but you have to see if from the beginning.

These two tied, because they're both so similar, and yet so very different!

Songs

Now, I have a whole playlist on Spotify with my top 20 songs for the year. But one wasn't on there, because Spotify doesn't have the rights to the song.

I Knew You Were Trouble - Taylor Swift
It just spoke to me, and reminded me so much of my last relationship. I always head bang to this (yes, to THIS) and it just is so true. But the rest of my songs are as follows:

2. I Love You - 2NE1
3. Moontrance - Lindsey Stirling
4. Part of Me - Katy Perry
5. Iris - Leona Lewis
6. Lord of the Rings - The Piano Guys
7. Girl on Fire - Alicia Keys
8. Diamonds - Rhianna
9. People Like Us - Kelly Clarkson
10. Wide Awake - Katy Perry
11. Make It in America - Victorious Cast
12. We are Never Ever Getting Back Together - Taylor Swift
13. Gangnam Style - Psy
14. Arwen's Vigil - The Piano Guys
15. I Will Rise - Alex Boye ft. LDC
16. Starships - Megan Nicole and Lindsey Stirling
17. Blank Page - Christina Aguilera
18. Hurt - Leona Lewis
19. A New Way to Bleed (Photek Remix) - Evanescence
20. Monster - BIGBANG

Honorable Mentions:

Warrior (Clean Version) - Ke$ha
Burn it Down - Linkin Park

You can see the playlist, minus the Ke$ha song and I Knew You Were Trouble on my facebook page, it's a highlight from Dec 5.

Game

There has been a ton of games in the past couple of years that I've loved, but the one that I was so looking forward to, and enjoy playing the most from this year has to be

Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Not only is this an awesome game with a brand new take on Link I've never, EVER heard of before (a pushover. Seriously, Link's a PUSHOVER! So different, I love it!), but it also comes with a SOUNDTRACK! Many a scene has been edited, written, and planned out to that music! Hands down, my fav!

Makeup Brand and Guru

I've only gotten into makeup recently, and that's due to Promise Phan, Michelle Phan, and many other great Youtubers! So I have to add in the brand that I've loved, as well as the guru that I love the most.

First is brand, and that is

They've always lived up to expectations, and I keep finding myself going back to them. And, they're the most highly recommended.

Now for guru...Oh man, this is hard! I can't decide on 1, I'm going with 3!

Promise Phan
First Promise was the first Guru I found! Her transformations are AMAZING! She's so sweet, and can do the most amazing things with makeup, even just the cheap halloween makeup for $3! So awesome!

Michelle Phan
Then Michelle was the first one that I tried out her look! It was her Avatar Inspired look, which I loved on me! (View that vid here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BcAxgcuTRY&list=PL386A706F3A938041&index=10) Her vids are just so good, though the makeup looks have mostly been for her Glam Bag from Ipsy, which I don't subscribe to. But she's promised a comeback for all kinds of makeup looks, as well as her continued fashion advice, and other beauty knowledge!

Ingrid
Last but definately not the least is Ingrid aka MissGlamorazzi! She has the same skin type as me, so her buying advice works better for me, at least so far! And she's so cute and funny and upbeat, I just can't get enough of her! I love this girl!

Wow, they're all so different, but they definately make my list!

Hair Care Line

I've been bouncing around hair care lines for YEARS, since I just always have trouble. But one line seems to be cheap enough, easy enough to find, and has enough variety for me to keep coming back. And I've gotten some advice to stay with this product line:

I just can't stay away from this stuff! They've gone hypoallergenic, they have a professionals line, and they keep making must-have lists all over the web! I had to add them in!

Fashion Trend

This year was full of trends, from the peplum to the return of bold lips and eyes! But the one trend I love the most and will continue to rock for a long while is

Military! I just love this so much! I love hunter/olive/military green, it's my fav color ever, I like the look of a military jacket, and camo I've always been a fan off. Also always wanted some combat boots, which I now have for kinda cheap, thanks to this trend! I also got a camo jacket, which I'm gonna stud up and cover in patches honoring my father's military service in Vietnam from 1970-1973. Still don't have everything for it yet, but expect pics to come of me rocking that for a while!

Whoo! What a crazy year this has been! I helped publish a book, am getting close to finishing mine, become a fashionista, and have lots of plans for this coming year! I hope ya'll have a safe New Year's Eve, and don't drink and drive!

And I hope you have a great 2013!
