January Favorites

Since everyone and their mother has a blog post (usually with a youtube post, but since I don't have a camera, it's on here only) about their favorites of the month, I decided to jump on the bandwagon.

So here's my fav's of the month!

Book

Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan

Okay, this isn't a book. It's a manga series. But I'm in love with it. I've been reading it, but now I'm obsessed with it! It's basically the story of a 12 yr old boy who's 1/4 demon, who is the heir of the King of the Demon Parade. Very well done. I'm already close to 100 chapters in, and started the anime

Movies

Rurouni Kenshin

I haven't seen too many movies this month, but the one I can't help but be in love with is the live action Rurouni Kenshin movie. It successfully combines four or five story arcs into one, and is really well done. Although I couldn't understand it (I could only watch it in Japanese with no subtitles), I can already tell it's well done.

If you think I need to chose one that I could fully appreciate, that one would be...

Red Tails

So well done. The last movie that George Lucas ever did, and it's brilliant. So well done! I loved it!

TV Show

Hikaru no Go
(Japaense version with English subtitles)

As I said earlier, I've been watching Nura, but only the first 2 episodes. I'm further with this show. I can't stand the English version at ALL, but the Japanese voice actors do a MUCH better job. I've been a fan of this for some years, but never saw the anime till now. Stays true to the story and pretty funny. Also, I can actually see what Go really is, and learn a little bit about it while watching. The manga doesn't have that element, so it's not as easy to follow the little nuances that are in the anime.

Makeup Guru

Kandee Johnson

It's like I find a new person or channel to subscribe to every other week! I found Kandee because she's now a part of Ipsy and FAWN. And boy, am I glad I did. She updates more than Ingrid, at least this month, and is even funnier! I just love watching her. I end up giggling almost every time!

Songs

Yes, there's more than one. What can I say? I love music! I'll go alphabetically

Let It Grow by Ester Dean

This is the theme for the movie The Lorax, which I also saw this month. Too sad to be a fav, but I just adore this song!

Queen Bee by Rochelle Diamante

Michelle Phan used this is one of her videos, and boy am I addicted! So fun to dance to!

Gang of Rhythm by Walk Off the Earth

They have the funnest cover of Taylor Swift's I Knew You Were Trouble, but I listen to this song WAY more. It's so catchy, and the video's hilarious!

Food

Anthony's Fish Grotto

I know I mentioned this before, and have more than one photo from my dinner here, but everything tasted good here - even the coleslaw! I don't like coleslaw almost anywhere except for KFC. And this place topped it! Absolutely amazing, and the ship sailing by in the middle of dinner was one of the coolest things dealing with food EVER!

So that's my favorites of the month! What are some of yours? Let me know below!

My Month in Photos! ~1/5 - 1/27~

SORRY! I've done it again! Basically no photos at all for weeks, and then on Friday I went on a trip to San Diego/Carlsbad. Took a TON of photos, and now I'm able to post!

Oh, and if you're wondering where chapter 32 is...take it up with my editor! She hasn't given the edits for 31, and I need to know everything about 31 first. That's how I flow. Can't really write just yet... >:/

So here's some shots of what I've doing!

My Favorite Shoes! Posted these for a contest on MichellePhan.com (Didn't win)

Another favorite, this time in earrings!

Angel likes to just stare at me from across the room for no reason...dunno why. Silly kitty!

My speaker jack feel to pieces! So my music coming from my laptop right now sucks! :(

This pic was randomly on the board at church. Isn't it pretty? It's one of the Ten Virgins!

This is the oldest member of my family on either side, my Great-Aunt Eunice! She's 94 1/2! Doesn't she look great for her age!

This is my second cousin (I think). She's just too cute, isn't she? :)

Yes, this is calamari. Just the appetizer for one of the best dinners I've ever had here:

Anthony's Fish Grotto! If you're in the San Diego area, you gotta go!

After dinner we walked around and saw The Star of India! It sailed past the resturaunt during dinner!

Before we left, we had to see Daddy's ship, The Midway! He served during Vietnam from 1970-1973

So that was my January! Did you do anything fun or meet anyone new?
