So here's my fav's of the month!
Book
Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan
Okay, this isn't a book. It's a manga series. But I'm in love with it. I've been reading it, but now I'm obsessed with it! It's basically the story of a 12 yr old boy who's 1/4 demon, who is the heir of the King of the Demon Parade. Very well done. I'm already close to 100 chapters in, and started the anime
Movies
Rurouni Kenshin
I haven't seen too many movies this month, but the one I can't help but be in love with is the live action Rurouni Kenshin movie. It successfully combines four or five story arcs into one, and is really well done. Although I couldn't understand it (I could only watch it in Japanese with no subtitles), I can already tell it's well done.
If you think I need to chose one that I could fully appreciate, that one would be...
Red Tails
So well done. The last movie that George Lucas ever did, and it's brilliant. So well done! I loved it!
TV Show
Hikaru no Go
(Japaense version with English subtitles)
(Japaense version with English subtitles)
As I said earlier, I've been watching Nura, but only the first 2 episodes. I'm further with this show. I can't stand the English version at ALL, but the Japanese voice actors do a MUCH better job. I've been a fan of this for some years, but never saw the anime till now. Stays true to the story and pretty funny. Also, I can actually see what Go really is, and learn a little bit about it while watching. The manga doesn't have that element, so it's not as easy to follow the little nuances that are in the anime.
Makeup Guru
Kandee Johnson
Youtube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/kandeejohnson
It's like I find a new person or channel to subscribe to every other week! I found Kandee because she's now a part of Ipsy and FAWN. And boy, am I glad I did. She updates more than Ingrid, at least this month, and is even funnier! I just love watching her. I end up giggling almost every time!
Songs
Yes, there's more than one. What can I say? I love music! I'll go alphabetically
Let It Grow by Ester Dean
This is the theme for the movie The Lorax, which I also saw this month. Too sad to be a fav, but I just adore this song!
Queen Bee by Rochelle Diamante
Michelle Phan used this is one of her videos, and boy am I addicted! So fun to dance to!
Gang of Rhythm by Walk Off the Earth
They have the funnest cover of Taylor Swift's I Knew You Were Trouble, but I listen to this song WAY more. It's so catchy, and the video's hilarious!
Food
Anthony's Fish Grotto
I know I mentioned this before, and have more than one photo from my dinner here, but everything tasted good here - even the coleslaw! I don't like coleslaw almost anywhere except for KFC. And this place topped it! Absolutely amazing, and the ship sailing by in the middle of dinner was one of the coolest things dealing with food EVER!
So that's my favorites of the month! What are some of yours? Let me know below!

There's an anime?!?!?! EEEK! Is it in English????!!!!
ReplyDeleteI will watch Rurouni Kenshin once it gets English subtitles or dubbing. =)
Huh - George Lucas did a movie about the Tuskeegee Airmen. I've actually been to Tuskeegee University. George Washington Carver is buried there (the guy who invented peanut butter and soy milk).
What's wrong with the English dub for Hikaru no Go?
Ester Dean did "Let It Grow?" How funny. She did a song for Rio, I think. Lemme go check... yep. She did "Let Me Take You to Rio" or "Take You to Rio" or whatever it's called. Cool. My personal favorite from The Lorax is "How Bad Can I Be," even though it' like, "No! No, Onceler!" It's catchy.
I'll have to check out this Rochelle Diamante person...
My favorite restaurant ever is Ryan's, but there isn't one in Arizona. We used to eat there on my birthday every year in Alabama. It's how I discovered strawberry shortcake. And the food was cheap - all you can eat for like, 7 bucks, total. Being young, that usually amounted to about $30-$50 worth of food at some other restaurant (I'd go back for fried chicken tenders like, 5x).
